Summer is really heating up as we head deeper into July. To beat the heat, the city offers plenty of cool events and activities to enjoy this weekend, from art exhibitions to street fairs and even more! Here are just a few things to see and do for the perfect summer weekend here in NYC.

Smorgasburg

NYC’s favorite food fair returns this weekend to Brooklyn! Smorgasburg boasts nearly 100 top food vendors from all over the city, offering everything from pasta to dumplings and much more at great prices! Takes place this Saturday at East River State Park at 90 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg and Sunday in Prospect Park. Also, don’t miss out on the new Smorgasburg SoHo at 76 Varick Street in Manhattan, featuring as many as 20 top food vendors on the weekends! Come hungry to any one of these three locations in the Big Apple!

Hester Street Fair

One of New York City’s most popular (and fun!) flea markets, the Hester Street Fair returns to the Lower East Side once again this weekend. The fair offers a wide variety of great vendors to explore and sample, including the Macaron Parlour and Cheeky Sandwich. Don’t miss out!

Chihuly

Dale Chihuly’s popular art exhibit is still on display at the New York Botanical Garden at 2900 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx. Explore some 20 fascinating multimedia exhibits in this acclaimed artistic showcase. For contemporary art fans, this is definitely a must!

World War I: Beyond the Trenches

History buffs will definitely want to check out this new exhibit at the New-York Historical Society in the Upper West Side. World War I: Beyond the Trenches honors the centennial anniversary of the United States’ involvement in the first world war, marking the occasion with more than 50 artworks as well as military gear, sheet music, posters and even more. A must for any fan of military history, this exhibition runs until September 3.

A Night at Niblo’s Garden

Honoring the historic Niblo’s Garden theater, A Night at Niblo’s Garden features 19th century shows and performing arts events. A fun mix of music, theater and history, this event takes place this Saturday at 7PM in Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery.
