Laboratory Relocations: John Jay Forensic Lab, Mt. Sinai Health Systems
Whether you are moving a minus 80° ‘double deli freezer,’ or biosafety cabinets, incubators, ultrasonic cleaners, and injection molders, laboratory relocations requires skill, specialized equipment, and strong management
As part of a relocation to the Alexandria Center, Eagle received, stored, delivered, and uncrated over $700 million worth of new laboratory equipment. Every piece of equipment in our arsenal was used, including: hoists, table lifts, stair climbers, and roller jacks.
When working on the relocation of the John Jay College Forensic Lab to the new 1 million square foot home of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, it brought with it a whole new array of challenges. We were facing the building of 25 custom-sized laboratory pedestals to having to protect over 2,000 linear feet of space with special reinforced paper. This high profile project was executed seamlessly and under budget.
The 30 plus continuous days of relocations at Mt. Sinai were a non-stop blur of movement. Each day, truckload after truckload were transferred by Eagle’s teams. We utilized an entire menagerie of equipment, including: dry ice, thermal coolers and chillers, 1,000’s of bubble bags, dish barrels, and plastic crates. When the dust settled, we proudly added another satisfied client to our roster.
